How To Support Your Lymphatic System & Boost Detoxification

Lymphatic drainage 101

If you’ve been following me on social media for some time now, you know I try sharing all of the things that help me in hopes to help someone else find relief. And I have tried a LOT of things, so hopefully someone out there can reap the benefits.

Lymphatic drainage is one of the only proven methods that is actually effective for Lyme disease - every other method of treatment is incredibly bioindividual. No, these methods will not cure you of all of your ailments, but they sure as hell offer a ton of relief. Even if you’re not someone with a chronic illness, the benefits of boosting your lymphatic system are truly never ending. And, many of the most effective ways to boost your lymphatic system are also easy, free, and can be done from the comfort of your own home.

I’m assuming if you follow this account you have a pretty good understanding of the lymphatic system already, but if not, it’s a network of the body that circulates fluid towards the heart. It’s a critical part of the immune system and works to detoxify the body from foreign pathogens that enter, while also promoting circulation.

However, sometimes this fluid, or lymph, can get stuck throughout the body and needs a bit of help. And with chronic illness, many times this fluid is filled with toxins. Signs of a clogged lymphatic system include chronic pain, skin conditions, digestive disorders, headaches, sinus infections, weight fluctuations, fatigue, and more.

Lymphatic therapies work to recirculate this fluid, while at the same time redirecting toxins to the various drainage pathways throughout the body. The lymphatic system doesn’t have its own pumping system, so it needs the body’s support to create that flow and flush toxins out.

When it comes to Lyme, lymphatic drainage has been shown to benefit detoxification, digestion, neurological symptoms, autoimmune responses, and inflammation.

So here are 10 ways that you can start supporting your lymphatic system to start feeling your best:

  1. Dry brushing

  2. Lymphatic massage or flowpresso machine (find a wellness center near you that offers this service! Life changing.)

  3. Vibration plate (buying my own was also a huge game changer. I notice an insane difference in my energy levels, joint pain, and even bloat when I use it consistently.)

  4. Exercise & movement

  5. Gua sha

  6. Epsom salt baths

  7. Infrared sauna & red light therapy

  8. Legs up the wall

  9. Inversions (upside down yoga postures where your head is below your heart - downward dog, forward fold, headstand, handstand, etc.)

  10. Deep breathing/breathwork

Happy detoxing!
